Are You A UofL Student Suffering From A Chronic Case of The Munchies?

Posted on March 21, 2011

Wishing you could MICRO ZAP your way to home cooked wholesome goodness?

Ready to start making some decent food in your small space but don’t know where to start?

From the brilliant minds at University of Louisville Campus

Health Promotion and Basic Pantry…

Culinary and Nutrition Workshops

with Chef Jim Whaley

Basic Pantry is BLOWING my mind/taste buds with it’s brand new cooking workshops designed to make it easy for UofL students (like moi) to get out of those tv dinner and potato chip habits (lame) and indulging in our very own mouth watering dishes!

We not only come out of each cooking workshop with an awesome meal, but also the knowledge to be able to go home and make it again for our favorite person/s AND ALL FOR ONLY $3.00.

Last workshop I made THE BEST stir fry, and even had the vegan option of substituting chicken with tofu. SO NICE.

Never picked up a kitchen knife in your life? PERFECT.

These cooking workshops welcome the novices of the novices along with the cooking enthusiasts (I mean, even Phat Chow has learned a thing or too so far..) with open arms and step by step directions that get down to the nitty gritty basics of cooking; like how to slice an onion, heat up a skillet, or slice baked chicken!

In addition to the workshops, Basic Pantry makes it easy for students to go solo in our own kitchens by providing us with ingredient kits to purchase using cash, credit, or meal points in Basic Pantry locations around campus like the Cardinal’s Nest grocery in Louisville Hall. Each workshop has a different theme and lesson from chef Jim Whaley.

Class sizes are limited so I’ve definitely made a point to get in the Health Promotion Center (located in the small building between the SAC and Houchens on the Belknap campus) and sign up for each work shop in advance. Can’t wait to see you there!

On the menu tomorrow, Tuesday March 22nd:

Polenta with Red Bean Salsa

Greek Surprise Salad

There Is Still Time To Sign Up!!
